This stream is tailored for individuals with proven farming experience, relevant education, and the financial ability to establish or expand a farming business in Alberta. Applicants must present a viable business plan and meet financial and investment requirements to qualify.
How to Apply
Complete Application: Fill out the application form online and pay the required fees.
Prepare Documents: Gather all necessary documents, including proof of farming experience, financial resources, and a business plan.
Submission: Mail the application to the designated office. Email or fax submissions are not accepted.
Program Requirements
- Farming Experience: Applicants must demonstrate experience in farm management.
- Education: Relevant farming education or training is essential.
- Financial Investment: A minimum investment of CAD $500,000 in equity is required for a farming business.
- Net Worth: Applicants must show a net worth of at least CAD $500,000 or proof of access to similar funds.
- All Farm Stream applications paid for on or after April 1, 2024 are subject to a fee of $3,500, Applications paid for before April 1, 2024 are subject to a fee of $500.
- Business Plan: A detailed business plan outlining the proposed farming enterprise must be submitted.
- Priority Sector: Businesses that support Alberta’s agri-food targets are prioritized.
Ineligibility
Certain applicants are not eligible, including those with an active nomination under other streams, live-in caregivers, students, or individuals under removal orders.
